Delete your account

How to permanently delete your Crewty account and everything attached to it, what is erased, and what the businesses you worked with keep.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. It is not a request that sits in a queue. The moment you confirm, your sign-in is destroyed and your personal details are erased. There is no undo, no grace period, and no way for us to bring the account back.

You can delete your account yourself, from inside Crewty, on the web or in the mobile app. You do not need to contact us to do it.

Before you start

Crewty accounts are not standalone. A single login can be an owner of one company, a staff member at another, and a client of a third, and each of those relationships holds live work that belongs to somebody else's business. So there is one rule:

You have to leave every company you belong to before your account can be deleted. Until you do, the delete button stays disabled in Settings. This is deliberate. Deleting an account that still has jobs assigned to it would strip a business of a crew member mid-schedule, or leave a client's booked work with nobody attached to it.

Leaving is itself blocked while you have live work. Crewty will tell you exactly what is in the way and how much of it: jobs still assigned to you, unpaid invoices you owe, or payments the business still owes you. Clear those first. You are not being stopped arbitrarily, and the message names the actual blockers rather than a generic refusal.

Deleting your account

  1. 1

Leave every company you belong to

What this means depends on your role, and one of the three is different from the others.

    Staff

Settings → Leave company. Finish or hand back any job still assigned to you, and wait for outstanding payments to be confirmed.

    Client

Settings → Leave company. Your active bookings must be completed or cancelled, and unpaid invoices settled.

    Owner

An owner cannot leave. You have to delete the business instead, which requires clearing its staff, clients, bookings and unpaid staff payments first.

If you own a company, the full order of operations, and what blocks each step, is set out in Help. It is a longer job than leaving one, because you are closing something other people depend on.

  2. 2

Cancel your subscription, if you have one

An actively renewing subscription blocks deletion, so that nobody deletes an account and keeps getting charged for it. Cancel it in Billing first.

If you have already cancelled and are simply running out the time you paid for, Crewty offers you the choice: delete immediately and forfeit the remaining days, or come back after the period ends. Either way, any subscription still open on Stripe is cancelled as part of the deletion itself.

  3. 3

    Open the account screen

Once you belong to no companies, Crewty takes you to your account screen automatically the next time you sign in. Delete My Account sits at the bottom, under Danger Zone.

  4. 4

Confirm, and prove it is you

Type DELETE into the confirmation box. Then re-enter your password, or sign in with Google again if that is how you use Crewty. The second step is not busywork: it stops somebody who finds an unlocked phone or laptop from destroying your account.

  5. 5

    It runs

Your subscription is cancelled on Stripe, your historical records are anonymised, your personal data is erased, and your login is destroyed. You are signed out and returned to the login screen. That is the end of it.

What is erased

All of this is deleted outright. None of it is archived, and none of it is recoverable.

Crewty never stores your card number. Card details live with Stripe, our payment processor, and are removed along with the customer record above.

What is kept, and why

Some records cannot simply vanish, because they are not only yours. A completed job, the invoice raised against it, and the wage paid for it are a business's accounting records. If deleting an account erased them, any business you had worked with would find money missing from its books with no explanation, and it would still owe its tax authority an account of it.

So those records stay, with you removed from them. Your name is replaced with "Deleted User" and your email address and phone number are cleared. What remains is the work and the amount, unattached to a person.

RecordWhat happens to your detailsOutcome
BookingsYour name becomes "Deleted User". As a client, your contact details are cleared and the job is unlinked from youAnonymised
InvoicesName replaced, email and phone cleared, invoice unlinked from youAnonymised
Staff paymentsYour name on the payment record becomes "Deleted User"Anonymised
Chat historyYour name is removed from the conversation's participantsAnonymised

How long these are kept. Anonymised records stay with the business as part of its books, for as long as that business keeps them or its tax and accounting obligations require. They no longer identify you, and there is no way to work backwards from them to your identity. We do not put a deletion date on them because they are no longer your personal data.

Deleting your account does not delete a business you own. They are separate. If you want the company and its data gone as well, delete the business first, from Settings, and then delete your account. Doing it the other way round is not possible anyway, because an owner cannot leave their own company.

We will verify that the request came from the account holder before deleting anything. An emailed deletion goes through exactly the same process described above, including the same restrictions on live work, so we may need you to settle something first.
